NFL Offseason.

The football season has been over for about a month, and it is starting to show. Are you having withdrawals like me? Granted, I am more of a college football fan but the NFL is KING of the American sports scene. There have been some rousing stories the past few weeks, lets take a look at those:

Brett Favre:Yes, it’s that time of year again. Brett Favre has weighed his options and he is retiring. You read that right. This is not last years blog repeated. Brett is done. He was one of the greatest footballers of all time, but I think all of us are ready to not hear from him again until he is enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Thanks for all the good times Brett..or whatever.

Draft Talk/Combine: Now we all know how fast Wopamo Osaisai from Stanford can run, which is a really big deal! Ok, maybe not to your average fan, but to GM’s and coaches all across the league they have tons of new and accurate information about their new potential employees. By the way, Osaisai can bench press 225 lbs. 14 times…not too shabby. After the combine one thing is still for sure, the Lions STILL have the #1 pick and they will probably pick someone who will turn out to be a HUGE bust. It’s what they do. I am looking at you Matt Stafford.

Free Agency/Trades: The best story so far has been the Matt Cassell trade to the Kansas City Chiefs. First of all, I think Cassell is ok, but still a big unknown after only playing for one year. We will see if he can put up similar numbers on a very bad Chiefs team. The Chiefs also got LB Mike Vrabel for the #34 overall pick in the 09 draft….just what the Pats need. They are the best at picking late and developing those guys into All Pro Players. Albert Haynesworth is now the $100 million dollar man in D.C. Just crazy. He is good, but he hasn’t played a full season since his rookie season in 2002. That raises SOME concerns, but to many, he is the most dominant defensive tackle in the NFL. The redskins MIGHT be a surprise team next season.

So those are just a few of the things happening this NFL offseason. What has been the biggest story so far?

As an Australia-based ‘skins fan, I found your blog on google and read a few of your other Redskins posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
