NCAA Basketball Awesome Rankings #2.

Well, I don’t like to be right ALL the time, but BYU’s win over San Diego State was JUST what I needed to see to prove that the Aztecs were a LITTLE overrated at #4. And of course, college basketball is a beast that will throw out some weird outcomes, like New Mexico beating BYU a game later. Well, that’s ok. Realize with these awesome rankings that these are the teams that are THE most awesomest at that moment. So, without further delay, the awesome rankings:

1. Ohio State Buckeyes (#1 last week) (22-0): Was there any doubt as to who would be #1? The Buckeyes were pushed by Northwestern this weekend, but Sullinger and his teammates continue to go unbeaten. A lot of Big 10 games left, so don’t look for an undefeated season.

2. Texas Longhorns (#6 last week) (19-3): Yeah, I have them here. Sure I am from Texas, but this team is playing lights out. The Horns are 7-0 in Big 12 play and have won each conference game by double digits. A big pair of wins over Missouri and Texas A&M helped the Horns jump 4 spots.

3. Kansas Jayhawks (#4 last week) (20-1): Just dominated in state rival Kansas State. While they are impressive, it would be hard to put them above Texas who leads their conference and beat the Jayhawks at home. The Morris twins are better than the Olson twins.

4. Pittsburgh Panthers (#2 last week) (20-2): Right after I put them at #2 last week they went out and lost to Notre Dame. Thanks a lot. That being said, Pitt is still leading the Big East conference, the best in America.

5. Duke Blue Devils (#3 last week) (19-2): Bad loss to St. Johns, but Duke is still the favorite to win the horrible ACC this year. This team obviously misses Brian Zoubek. Wait what?

6. UCONN Huskies (#5 last week) (17-3): After beating a scrappy Marquette team, the Huskies were unable to hold off a good Louisville team in double over time. It was good to see other players step up instead of Kemba Walker, who still had 20 pts against the Cardinals.

7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (not ranked) (17-4): One of the recent victims of St Johns, the Irish showed how good they could be with a huge win over #2 Pitt last week. With only 4 losses, 3 against ranked opponents, the Irish have a solid resume come tourney time.

8. BYU Cougars (#10 last week) (20-2): Yeah, horrible loss in the Pit against the Lobos, but they did start the week by knocking off #4 San Diego State. Losing to New Mexico doesn’t mean moving up 2 spots usually, but I would take Jimmer and the Cougars over Purdue or Kentucky right now.

9. San Diego State Aztecs (#9 last week) (21-1): Ranked behind the team that just beat them, but still a top 10 JWSBAR team. The race is now for the top spot in the MWC.

10. Purdue Boilermakers (not ranked) (18-4): The first appearance for the Boilermakers. Jajuan Johnson is averaging 20 a game for this tough team. Imagine if they still had Robbie Hummel. Hmm.

Dropped Out: Syracuse, Villanova
Just Missed the Magical Top Ten: Kentucky, Louisville

LOL “BYU’s win over San Diego State was JUST what I needed to see to prove that the Aztecs were a LITTLE overrated at #4.”

Right! So, when the Aztecs destroy BYpUke at Vejas Arena your going to correct you mistake by saying: SDSU’s throttling of BYU State was JUST what I needed to see to prove that the Aztecs were a little UNDERrated at #4.

Haha…perhaps. But that was a royal beat down.
