NFL Awesome Rankings: #2

Wow. What a week for some of the top teams in the JWSB Awesome Rankings. Some of the “near top 5” teams didn’t fair too well. Here are this weeks rankings:

1. New York Jets– While it wasn’t a pretty win over the Vikings last week, the Jets are playing good football. Antonio Cromartie stood out as the teams #2 cornerback, and Mark Sanchez continues to play well. Ladanian Tomlinson has looked like the LT of old.

2. Baltimore Ravens– Ray Rice had his best game of the year in a beat down of the Denver Broncos. That is good news for the Ravens who were waiting on Rice to get over some nagging injuries. The defense is still great, and the offense is coming around.

3. Atlanta Falcons– Coming off a tough 20-10 win over the lowly Browns, the Falcons move up this week because of the Steelers bye week. This is an interesting team and obviously the top ranked NFC on our rankings. Should be a great test for this team this week against the Eagles.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers– One thing worth bringing up. Ben Roethlisberger is back. He MIGHT have some hiccups in his first game back, but he is a top tier NFL QB. You don’t forget too much with time off. Look for the Steelers to move up these rankings soon.

5. Tennessee Titans– Vince Young is playing smart football and the Titan D is nasty. Chris Johnson is still Chris Johnson, but the surprise of the team has been the play of Young. If his wide receivers continue to develop, this team could go deep in the playoffs. Return man Marc Mariani has been a spark plug for this team as well.

Dropped Out:
Kansas City Chiefs– tough first loss of the season to the always good Colts.

Near the top:
New York Giants– The defense is playing lights out under a new defensive coordinator. Eli Manning has a new best friend, WR Hakeem Nicks.
Indianapolis Colts– Peyton Manning.
New England Patriots– Tom Brady will be without Randy Moss, but most people think he will be ok. This team has question marks, but still has a 3-1 record.

Need a Few More Good Wins:
New Orleans Saints– Defending champs just had a horrible loss to the Cardinals and a first time rookie QB. That is never good. The offense hasn’t been great so far this year.
Philadelphia Eagles– Mike Vick is coming back soon, that’s good news.
Washington Redskins– Donovan McNabb was a great addition.

Not Sure WHAT to Think:
Green Bay Packers– I think about 47 guys got injured in last weeks game. Never good. Aaron Rodgers was one of those guys, his backup..some guy from my home town. Again, never good.
Houston Texans– The seemed like the hot pick after the first few weeks, but they have lost 2 in a row and have not looked good doing it.
Chicago Bears– Uhh, they better hope Cutler is ready to play. Todd “I may or may not have played QB before” Collins was awful.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers– Interesting. I like what they are doing.
Kansas City Chiefs– First loss hurts, but this is a young team. Fun to watch.
