College Football Week 11.

I cannot BELIEVE we are into November. It seems like this season was just starting out, now we already know a few teams who will be playing for their conference championships. Of course, there are a lot of races up in the air. Here is a look at the BCS Top 10 for this week.

1. Florida– They will be here until they lose. Their remaining schedule is no cakewalk.
2. Alabama– Beating LSU helped them jump Texas. Won’t really matter.
3. Texas– Keeps playing well. Remaining schedule works in Longhorns favor.
4. TCU– BIG matchup with Utah this weekend.
5. Cincinnati– Impressive play by their backup QB keeps them in the BCS race.
6. Boise State– Weak schedule remaining, just needs to keep winning. Will be rooting for Utah this week.
7. Georgia Tech– Fun team to watch, favorites in the ACC
8. LSU– 2 loss team, but only losses are to the #1 and #2 teams.
9. USC– Seriously? STILL in the top 10.
10. Iowa– Finally lost, which was inevitable.

This Week’s Key Games:
(25) West Virginia @ (5) Cincinnati: This game will be a shootout. Cincinnati is one of the top offenses in the country, and West Virginia has the athletes to hang with anyone. The Bearcats are coming off a near upset at the hands of lowly Uconn. While the Bearcats can score points with anyone, their defense is an area for concern. West Virginia, while not having a stellar year like recently, is right in the mix in the Big East. If they win out, they will be the Big East Champs. Look for this game to be high scoring, with the outcome decided in the last few moments.
My Pick: West Virginia 40 Cincinnati 38
What Really Happened: Cincinnati 24 West Virginia 21– It was a close one, but I get no credit for close. Pike and Collaros are a good QB tandem.

(1) Florida @ South Carolina: Interesting game for the Gators. There is always the storyline of Spurrier versus his former team, but there is more to this one that that. It seems like the whole college football world is waiting for the Gators to slip up once this season, kind of like last year. This could be the last chance for that. South Carolina has a hard hitting defense that is familiar with the Florida offense. While the Gamecock offense will struggle against Florida’s athletic D, look for the Gamecock defense to keep them in it, at least for 3 quarters. Tim Tebow is entering his final Heisman push, so look for him to make a lot of plays to help his case.
My Pick: Florida 27 South Carolina 13
What Really Happened: Florida 24 South Carolina 14– Florida did JUST enough again to escape with a victory. There time is coming up thought with a matchup against Bama and their bowl game. Will not finish undefeated.

Idaho @ (6) Boise State: The Idaho Rivalry. While not a nationally known rivalry, this one is definitely a BIG one in the state of Idaho. The Broncos have dominated this matchup lately. Since 2000, the Vandals have lost 10 straight games to the Broncos by a combines score of 453-160. Not close. But before that, Idaho did hold some dominance over Boise State winning 12 in a row from 1982 to 1993. This year you can throw those records out the window. The Vandals are having one of their most successful season in recent memory and a win over a top 10 team would give this program an added boost. Boise is led by QB and Heisman contender Kellen Moore, who leads the nation in passing efficiency. Even though this one will be fun, Boise State should continue their recent dominance over Idaho.
My Pick: Boise State 45 Idaho 20
What Really Happened: Boise State 63 Idaho 25– Kellen Moore should go to the Heisman ceremony. Sure, he doesn’t play anyone, but he is really good.

(10) Iowa @ (11) Ohio State: Just a week ago, this game looked to be MUCH bigger. Ohio State would be battling for a spot in the Rose Bowl against an undefeated Iowa team. Well, Iowa didn’t live up to their end of the bargain, losing a heart breaker to Northwestern last Saturday. Ohio State is coming off an impressive victory over Penn State, and looks to clear their path to Pasadena. Look for a low scoring game, with Ohio State finding a way to win it late.
My Pick: Ohio State 24 Iowa 20
What Really Happened: Ohio State 27 Iowa 24 (OT)– Great game for the chance to go to the Rose Bowl. Ohio State comes back from the dead.

(16) Utah @ TCU (4): The Horned Frogs are enjoying their highest ranking since the 1950’s and look to hang on to their first ever BCS berth. Utah, last years non-BCS darling have one loss on the year, and are looking to spoil the Horned Frogs shot at their own cinderella story. Utah is lead by QB Terrance Cain who has not wowed with gaudy numbers, but has been very efficient in leading the Utes. TCU has a great defense, which is always the case in Fort Worth. Jerry Hughes and company will look to shut down a balanced Utah attack. The TCU offense has been an impressive bright spot for a team mainly known for their dominating defenses. Andy Dalton is a top tier talent who plays smart and makes very few mistakes for the TCU offense. This is being billed as the “game of the week” which should be an accurate label.
My Pick: Utah 31 TCU 29
What Really Happened: TCU 55 Utah 28– The Horny Toads are playing well. Deservedly in the top 4.

Upset Pick of the Week (even though I have chosen a few already): Notre Dame 28 Pitt 25– The Domers “win one for the Fupa”.
What Really Happened: Pitt 27 Notre Dame 22– Is this the end for Weis? Brian Kelly already has his navy and gold clothes ready to go.

Game No One Cares or Might Not Even Know About: Cortland State 31 Ithaca 21– Big matchup in DIV II football.
What Really Happened: Ithaca 23 Cortland State 20– The Cortaca Jug goes back to Ithaca.

Wow….really..Utah over TCU? hummmmm…. I know Utah will have a chip on their shoulder being a 20 point under dog but I feel TCU gets it done. After my Tigers take care of Bama in 2 weeks and Bama beats FL, it will be an all Texas NC game. Hey how about that forecast for today..Nice!
