College Football Week 10.

As most of you know, we have had a slight change at the top of the BCS Standings. After their impressive beat down of Oklahoma State, Texas moved up to the #2 spot behind Florida. Here is the top 10 this week:
1. Florida– Their best defensive player is suspended for the game against Vandy. That’s like saying I am punished and am not allowed to eat broccoli.
2. Texas– the Horns start the “easy” part of their schedule this weekend against UCF. The Charleston School for the Deaf was not available.
3. Alabama– BIG game this weekend. More to come.
4. Iowa– somehow keep winning. It has GOT to come to an end? Right?
5. Cincinnati– Have a fairly weak schedule. Matchups with W. Virginia and Pitt looming.
6. TCU– nice story, can they keep it up? Schedule says yes.
7. Boise State– VERY weak schedule remaining. May be on the outside looking in.
8. Oregon– one of the hottest teams in the nation.
9. LSU– BIG game this weekend. Still more to come.
10. Georgia Tech– one dimenstional team that is fun to watch.

Here are the “BIG” games this weekend:
Kansas @ Kansas State– Ahhh the “Sunflower Showdown” is an actual meaningful game this year. While Kansas has struggled in Big 12 play, they still have a shot at winning the North Division. Kansas State is in the driver’s seat and sitting atop the division. While this game historically has not been a interesting rivalry, things have gotten better since Kansas has turned their program around under Mark Mangino (the ONLY time you would want to be under him). Look for this one to be a shootout.
My Pick: Kansas 41 Kansas State 38
What Really happened: Kansas State 17 Kansas 10– Low scoring game. Big time surprise.

Duke @ North Carolina– Yes, I know it is not basketball season just yet. This game has BIG time relevance in the ACC standings, mainly for Duke. Yes Duke. The Blue Devils control their destiny as far as making it to the ACC title game. If they can win out, they will be playing for the title. North Carolina has shown signs of life this season, but have struggled in conference play. Look for this to be a low scoring close one.
My Pick: North Carolina 20 Duke 16
What Really Happened: North Carolina 19 Duke 6– Pretty much how I thought it was going to look.

LSU @ Alabama– Here is the more to come part. This is the best game of the weekend. Alabama is still undefeated looking for a second straight win over the Tigers. The offense of the Crimson Tide has struggled lately, and the team has needed great efforts by the defense and special teams to pull off wins. LSU’s only loss this season was a close one to #1 Florida. Some people still believe they have a shot at the National Title, which obviously would have to include a win over Bama. This will be your typical SEC game, lots of defense, no offense, and maybe a bad call or two by the referees.
My Pick: LSU 23 Alabama 20
What Really Happened: Alabama 24 LSU 15– Well, bad calls happened, but nothing that REALLY changed the score..well maybe.

Ohio State @ Penn State– Remember that time when Ohio State was in the top 5? Well, no one really does, but they still have a shot at going to the Rose Bowl. If they can win their remaining games they will be in Pasadena awaiting a beatdown from another Pac 10 team. Penn State is in the top 15 of the BCS standings, and looking to salvage their season after a disappointing loss to Iowa. If they can contain Terrell Pryor and be consistent in the passing game, look for them to pull one off at home.
My Pick: Penn State 24 Ohio State 23
What Really Happened: Ohio State 24 Penn State 7– Wrong again. Penn State laid an egg.

Oregon @ Stanford– Just when you think Oregon has gotten it all together they always come back and lay an egg. See what I did there? The Ducks are coming off one of the biggest wins in their history after destroying a once proud USC team. Oregon is playing as well as anyone in the country, but better watch out for the Cardinal. Stanford has had a good year, and has the ability to beat most anyone in the nation. RS Freshman QB Andrew Luck is a serious talent that not many people have heard of. Look for Stanford to keep it close for awhile, with the Ducks finding a way to pull it out.
My Pick: Oregon 38 Stanford 24
What Really Happened: Stanford 51 Oregon 42– Amazing game. Toby Gerhart is a baller.

Upset Pick of the Week: Wake Forest 30 Georgia Tech 27– These two runing teams battle back and forth all night, with the Deacons winning it late.
What Really Happened: Georgia Tech 30 Wake Forest 27 (OT)– Another good game that looked a lot like I thought. Except for the winner.

Game No One Cares About: Framingham State 27 Coast Guard 13– Dave Leach leads the Rams to a win.
What Really Happened: Coast Guard 20 Framingham State 13– ANOTHER one wrong! Wow. Never count out the service academies.
