College Football 09.

Yes. Week 1. There is NOTHING better (to me) than waking up on a cool Saturday morning and watching college football. This is the first week of games and it is sure to be a good one. Here are my picks:

Oregon at Boise State– The battle on the blue turf. Everyone remembers Boise State for 2 things, that blue turf and their GIGANTIC win over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. The Broncos aren’t just a one hit wonder and look to prove that again this year. Oregon seems to be a player in the Pac-10 this year. This game will be a great test for both teams to see how good they really are.
My Pick: Boise State 37 Oregon 31
*Ok, so the outcome of the game was a LITTLE off. Boise State won 19-8. I did get the winner right, and I also didn’t predict the Oregon running back punching a BSU player.

BYU vs. Oklahoma– OU has high expectations this year, anything short of a national title will be a disappointment. While this game may look like a blowout on paper, BYU is a tough team that will give the Sooners all they can handle. Watch for a close first half with OU pulling away in the 4th. Too much Bradford.
My Pick: Oklahoma 42 BYU 28
*Wow, biggest upset of the season…so far. My last line said “too much Bradford”. Well, he might have made a difference in that 2nd half. What a loss.
Alabama vs. Virginia Tech– Alabama came close to playing for the national championship last year, missed out, then got dominated by Utah. They are looking to start this season on a winning note to help erase last years 2 game losing streak. Virginia Tech seems to be a bit of an unknown this year. Tyrod Taylor is ready to lead the team on his own, and the Va Tech defense is as strong as ever. Both teams have their eyes on a conference championship as well as the national title. Should be a good one.
My Pick: Virginia Tech 24 Alabama 21
*Another one I got wrong. Alabama overcame a new quarterback and pounded Va Tech on the ground. It will be interesting to see if Bama can compete for the SEC title.
Georgia at Oklahoma State– This seems to be a trap game for Georgia. Oklahoma State is a tough place to play, and even tougher when you have to face Kendall Hunter and Dez Bryant. This game will be Bryant’s “invite” to the Heisman talk. Georgia is trying to replace two of their best players in their history, Knowshown Moreno and #1 overall pick Matt Stafford. Stillwater is not the best place to learn on the go.
My Pick: Oklahoma State 31 Georgia 20
*Good game. The Cowboy offense hard a little trouble getting going, but once they did they were pretty hard to stop. The story was the OSU defense. SEC? SEC?
Upset Pick of the Week: Nevada 27 Notre Dame 24
*Uh yeah..Notre Dame dominated. I just picked them to lose because I thought it would be funny. They seem to be focused.
No one cares about this game pick: Hawaii 45 Central Arkansas 10
*Hawaii won a thriller! But again, no one cares.
