National League Playoffs.

It has been an exciting year in baseball. The National league playoffs are set after another historic collapse by the Mets and a super human like performance by CC Sabathia. This post will be my official National League playoffs picks, which I am sure will be horribly wrong.

Cubs vs. Dodgers– The Cubs have the best team in the National league. Their starting pitching has been great this year and their offense is explosive led by Alfonso Soriano, Derek Lee, Geovany Soto and Aramis Ramirez. The Dodgers had a great season which was jump started by the Manny Ramirez trade. Manny can’t hit for every player though, which will be a problem for the Dodgers. Their pitching is solid, led by Derek Lowe and Hiroki Kuroda. Look for some close games, but the Cubs will be too much. Cubs win in 4.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Milwaukee Brewers– There is one key thing to remember in this series, CC Sabathia cannot pitch every game for the Brewers. Sabathia has been super human for the Brew Crew after his trade from the Indians garnering an 11-2 record and a 1.65 ERA. He has recorded 128 strikeouts, 7 complete games and 3 shutouts. While the other Milwaukee starters are not horrible, they have been struggling with injuries throughout the season. The Phillies have been a consistent team all season. They are lead by a great pitching staff (Hamels, Blanton, Myers, Lidge) and a hard hitting lineup featuring Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell. While I like the young hitters for the Brewers (Braun, Fielder), I think the Phillies pitching will help them win this series. Phillies win in 5.

NLCS:
Cubs vs. Phillies- This should be a GREAT matchup. The Cubs are trying to break the 100 year curse and the Phillies are trying to regain the championship form they showed in 1980. Even though I think this series will be a fun one to watch, the Cubs will be able to keep the Phillies lineup in check and move on to the World Series. Cubs in 7.

Stay tuned for the American League Picks.
