Rangers.

Not too long ago, I was ready to make a bold prediction here at the Blog that the Rangers were going to make a run at the American League Wild Card. I am glad I didn’t put it into writing. Since the Rangers got within 4.5 games of the Red Sox, they have been pretty bad. Currently they are 15 games behind the Angels in the West and 10.5 games out of the Wild Card race. Simply put, the Rangers are DONE.

There have been bright spots this year. Ian Kinsler is the best lead off hitter in the game. While Kinsler’s defense needs some work, he has made up for his errors with great plays and timely hitting. Oh, and he is only 26 years old.

Milton Bradley, once thought of as a “bad boy” in baseball has put together his finest season of his career. He played and started in his first All Star game and is in the top 5 in the American league in Batting Avg (.317); Slugging % (.589) and On Base % (.444).

Without a doubt, the story of the year for the Rangers and for Major League baseball has been Josh Hamilton. You probably all know the story of Josh, and the comeback he has made. Hamilton has become one of the most feared hitters in all of baseball. His display of power at this years Home Run derby will be talked about for years. He is currently in the running for league MVP honors because of these stats:
.305 avg
.554 slug. %
115 rbi’s
29 hr
29 doubles
152 hits
81 runs

If the Rangers can get some pitching help (which they never do), this team will be a playoff team next year. Here are some names that will be free agents after this season: Ben Sheets; John Lackey; Matt Clement; AJ Burnett; Brian Fuentes; Kerry Wood; Damaso Marte.
